Origin: I was born in London to Greek parents.
Places you have been: Greece to visit family, the Algarve, Mallorca, Phuket in Thailand.
Hobbies/interests: Listening to music, reading classic novels, watching Netflix, spending time with my family.
Favourite color: Red, pinky purple.
What makes you happy? My family, the sun shining, achievement in general.
What makes you angry? Rudeness, lies, deceit, unkindness and violence.
Which are your best and worst traits? My best trait must be seeing the good in everyone or giving everyone a chance to show how good they can be. Also I’m conscientious, hardworking, compassionate, loyal and trustworthy. My negative traits are that I’m a person pleaser and I can’t say no to people in case I offend them and I sulk if someone hurts my feelings.
Something unknown about you: I used to aspire to be a ballet dancer until I was 16. I played the piano and the violin until 16 too.
About your career
Why did you start teaching? I’ve wanted to be a teacher since the age of 6. I suppose you could call it my ‘calling’.
What do you like most about teaching? The light in a student’s eyes when they’ve understood something or the pride he/she feels when you praise them.
Do you have any anecdote about your classes? Haha yes! I tell my students to laugh at their mistakes and not to take them too seriously. I give them an example of myself whilst learning Spanish, going into a shop to ask for an ipod case but actually asking for a suitcase. Understand why you made a mistake and correct it. It’s not the end of the world!
If you weren’t a teacher, what would you like to do for a living? A psychologist probably but I think I’d take my clients’ cases home with me and not be able to switch off.
What would you do if you had a time machine? On a personal level, I’d go back to my school days as I loved school and, prevent the illnesses my family had before they could succumb to them. From a worldwide point of view, erase the devastating wars and atrocities in our history. Cheekily, win the lottery!
If you could have a super power, which one would you choose and why? This is something I’ve discussed with my family countless times. I’d want to duplicate myself so I could be the one relaxing and the other selves would do all the work.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I haven’t seen New Zealand, Canada, South America. I wouldn’t want to go to the obvious places like the USA as it simply doesn’t interest me. I prefer tranquility and space and to relax.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Now that’s a question. Well, William Shakespeare would be rather entertaining I think. A Greek philosopher such as Plato, Aristotle or Socrates for their fantastic minds. Martin Luther King would probably be passionate in his causes. I’m not sure how interesting they’d be to chat to but I think the Bronte sisters would have to be on my list as I love their novels.
