First of all…
- Read the question carefully.
- Highlight/underline the questions you must answer.
- Underline/highlight key words.
- Ask yourself “What does the question ask of me?”
- Brainstorm ideas about the title.
- Have at this point a possible/probable title. Leave for now.
Introduction ( first paragraph)
— Attract reader’s attention. Maybe consider a question or 2?
— Answer in general terms.
— You are simply stating what the article is about.
Middle (second paragraph and body of article)
— Answer the questions posed in exam.
— You can use 1 or 2 paragraphs. Maybe a paragraph per question.
— Make sure you are answering the questions and keep referring back to exam question.
Conclusion (third paragraph)
This paragraph is to summarise what you’ve written before. Leave something for the reader to think about.
— If appropiate, offer advice/ tips/ recommendations to your target readers.
— Keep an eye out for time. For both part 1 (email/letter) and part 2 ( article /story) of the writing paper you have 45 minutes. Therefore, around 20 minutes or so for this article.
— Please note, 5 minutes is advisable for planning. Planning is absolutely essential.
— You could once again think about your title. Make it interesting (exciting), engaging or leave it to the end of writing up the article.
